Meet Dawn Lewis reduced

Dawn is the solo face behind all that happens here at dawnlewis.com.au … yup, that’s me!  I am a professional crafter, which is exactly as cool as it sounds.  I have an incredibly supportive (and tolerant-of-craft-mess) husband and 2 lovely grown-up daughters, and we live on the beautiful Australian NSW Central Coast.  Welcome to my little patch of the interwebs!

I do my best to keep prices low everyday because I am a true believer in crafting within your own personal budget, and getting maximum bang for your buck.  This little business of mine is forever evolving, so check back in to see what’s new now & then.  If you want to know more about what it means to be a professional crafter, please feel free to keep on reading some of the incredible adventures I’ve had with craft.

I work out of my home studio, accompanied by Quality Control Kitty.  She tests all quilts, table runners and crochet throws for comfort, and so far they have all passed QCK’s test.  Sometimes she models for me.

My job has taken me to some incredible places including hosting Scrap It TV and being involved with the show from series 3 through to series 7, as well as managing the Scrap It TV Facebook page.  Through the show I have met some amazingly talented crafters, and connected with viewers from all over Australia.  It is seriously the coolest job I have ever had!

I spent several years designing for Brandcorp … I was pretty much their one-girl design team for all departments.  I designed a range of cross stitch patterns for Semco called Fifi & Frankie, I toured around Australia visiting 20 Spotlight stores in 5 states over 10 days to demonstrate the Martha Stewart range when it came to Australia, and I demonstrated for them at SIA where I was a guest teacher alongside Heidi Swapp, Rachel Greig, Marianne Walker & Lori Craig.

Brandcorp experience reduced

It was after meeting Marianne, Lori & Mandi-Lee Klinger at SIA that I became interested in Copic markers.  I became a Copic Certified Designer (which is fancy talk for being qualified to teach Copic classes), and  an authorised Copic stockist.  Yes … that’s how much I love Copic markers!  It was this new found love for Copics that led me back to stamping … with a passion.  During some research for Scrap It TV I came across Sweet Stamp Shop, and quickly became a distributor for them in Australia.  During a wholesale hiatus while Sweet made some changes to their business, I began stocking Lawn Fawn, then Mama Elephant stamps.  Now I stock over 30 different brands, and I run the whole thing myself from my home office.  I love that I can connect Australian customers to these brands at a pretty darn good price.  I rarely discount because I try to keep the prices low all the time (though sometimes the Australian dollar and courier companies have different notions about how that’s going to work out!).

Magazine projects were my life for several years, and nothing beats the thrill of seeing something I made with my own two hands gracing the cover of a magazine.  I have been published in For Keeps, Folk Art & Decorative Painting and Homespun, Handmade, Patchwork & Stitching, Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft and Country Threads.  It has been my very great honour to be profiled by Handmade and Patchwork & Stitching magazines as a featured artist.

And then there’s a bunch of other cool stuff that I have done, like designing sewing patterns for Australian Girl (awesome doll company based in Perth), writing a crochet book for Milford Threads, writing my own book for cardmakers & scrapbookers (you can find it HERE) and being Santa’s offical photographer for 6 years.  I have been a member of the Tiddly Inks Design Team (2014/15), Little Miss Muffett Stamps Design Team (2015), KennyK Stamps Design Team (2010 – 2017) and Kindred Stamps Video Design Team (2018 – 2019).

If you made it all the way to here … kudos and thank you!  I want to say thank you for checking out my blog, my shop and the website in general.  I am always up for questions.  If you’re looking for my social media, there’s a handy set of buttons on the right that will take you to where I lurk on various platforms.  I love video, which is why you’ll find me on YouTube & Tiktok, and live Facebook & Instagram video (when the internet is sending a nice strong signal!).
