Crafty Christmas Gift Ideas – Day 2

Some people really love stamping and some people really love die-cutting (like Jennifer McGuire … it’s her favourite thing!). Today’s gift idea is for the die-cutting enthusiasts … layering die sets. There are LOADS of amazing layering die sets on the market, and where they really shine for me is in the role of stash-buster! If you have lots of leftover pieces and scraps of cardstock, pattern paper or inky backgrounds, layering dies can help you make a decent dent in your scrap stash.

But what if you don’t have a scrap stash? Well, firstly … what’s your secret?! And secondly, a fantastic add-on to a layering die set, or gift for the layering die-cutting enthusiast is ombre paper pads. I have some stunning options in store by Echo Park, Studio Light and Altenew. Alternatively, you can use ink pads to colour white cardstock before die-cutting or ink up your white die-cut pieces.

Some great companies are create stunning layering dies, like Altenew, Honey Bee Stamps, Gina K Designs, The Stamp Market, Lawn Fawn, Sizzix/Tim Holtz and Studio Light.

This particular layering die set is called Lovely Layers: Mini Holiday Florals, by Honey Bee Stamps. Sure, there’s a poinsettia and some mistletoe in there, but mix up the colours, and you can use these layering dies to create floral arrangements for many occasions all year round. You could even pair this with a vase or wreath stamp or die set.
