Sticky Mats
Sticky mats aren’t necessarily new, but there are some great options available now, and they certainly are a game changer for papercrafters. For many years we’ve been relying on magnets or low-tack tape to hold stencils and cardstock in place, but grip mats have evolved from the plastic back/sticky top (like the Brutus Monroe) to a clear photopolymer mat that clings to glass craft mats and stamp positioning tools like the MISTI and Altenew StampWheel. What I like most about the new style of photopolymer sticky mats is that they are essentially a gigantic stamp. Yes, they will stain, but that’s the mark of good quality photopolymer. Most importantly, if they loose their stick, a quick wash under a cold tap (maybe a little gentle liquid dish soap) before air drying, and they’re good as new!
There are a number of companies making clever sticky mats, including Waffle Flower, Altenew and Brutus Monroe.
Insert them into your stamp positioning tool to hold paper & cardstock in place while you stamp.
Let it grip your glass craft mat below, and your cardstock, stencil and ink pad above.
