This is my first Tiddly Inks challenge on the Design Team, so I wanted to do something really different, and a bit special.  So … out came the paints and a 10″ x 10″ canvas, and I painted my digital stamp!

Tea Time Canvas 1

It’s been a while since I painted just for fun,and I forgot how much I enjoyed it.  I will definately be doing more stamp painting in the future!  I transferred the image onto the canvas with blue saral transfer paper first.  I used Jo Sonja acrylic paints to paint the whole thing, with a #3 round brush and a 10/0 liner brush for the design, and a 1/2″ flat brush for the background.

Tea Time Canvas

My best tip for layering up colour in the hair is to add a little extender into your paint so it stays wet for longer.  That lets you pick up a little bit of darker paint to blend into the wet base for shading, and pick up some lighter paint to blend in highlights.  I use a hairdryer to dry one section before I start on another (less mess from hands resting on wet paint!).

Thanks a Latte digital stamp

The stamp I used is ‘Thanks A Latte’.  Just click on the image above to visit the Tiddly Inks store, and you could add it to your own digital stamp collection.  I love this stamp … it reminds me very much of my BFFS … Sparkly Pink, Hermoine Danger & Mrs Cann-do, three of my favourite people to talk with over tea 😀

Don’t forget to check out what the rest of the Design Team has been up to with this colour scheme … one jaw droppingly beautiful card after another HERE!

Aww, thank you! I painted many years before I picked up a copic marker, and sometimes I just love to go back to it. I’ve never painted a stamp before, but digi’s are great because they can be resized!
