In todays video I’m showcasing the second fastest way to use a sheet of 12″ x 12″ pattern paper. I will also be showing you how I use my ink pad swatches to find coordinating colours quickly, creating a bonus card, and making a very cute introduction.
I even made an extra set with different 12″ x 12″ paper, and I have to say, I’m in love with the variety that this method has to offer.
February has been all about swatching, and I hope you enjoyed seeing my ink pad swatches in action in this video (even though I’m pretty sure Evie stole the show). You can check out Episode 43 of The Craft Room Podcast to learn more about the benefits of swatching (link below), but if you’re wondering about the basic process, here’s what I did.
Steps to swatching
1. Figure out how many swatches you need to make.
2. Choose your pocket sleeves & order.
3. Measure pockets, and decide if you will print or hand-write swatches.
4. If you’re printing, create a template, type in colour & brand names, then print (link to course below).
5. Cut strips, then pieces to fit your pocket measurement.
6. Add specialty papers for different mediums, if applicable (like watercolour, pencil, blending card, etc).
7. Match medium to swatch card, and apply colour in a manner that showcases different applications & intensities.
8. Group swatches together by medium, sort by colour, then add to pockets.
It’s worth noting that my coin collection pockets arrived with little flaps so that you can close the coin in its pocket. As I didn’t need those little protective flaps, I cut them off all 630 pockets whilst watching a favourite show. It didn’t take long, and thankfully they weren’t the type of plastic with lots of static cling *yay*.
