Paper Piecing – Transform non-Christmas stamps using this free template

Paper Piecing santa hat video tutorial, Kindred Stamps

For today’s project I am following up on a previous video featuring Inseparable Friends by Kindred Stamps.  I realised that I have a lot of stamp sets that aren’t necessarily Christmas stamps, but could easily be used on a Christmas card if only I could add a santa hat to the little characters!  So today I’m going to share an original santa hat that I designed especially to fit the Kindred Stamps critters!  Let’s start by taking a look at this very sweet set by Kindred Stamps … Inseparable Friends.

Kindred Stamps, Inseparable Friends stamp set

For this project I wanted not only to make things festive and simple, but do a little stash diving so I could put a dent in my scrap stash!  This is a project that you could take on the go, and work on throughout the year so that you are ready to turn your favourite character stamp into a christmas card!

Here is the template, with the hat facing in both directions.  The design up the top of this downloadable template is the one I used for this project, but I have provided one smaller and two larger sizes so you can get maximum use out of this template!  If you have cardmaking friends, please feel free to send them a link to this blog post so they can download this santa hat template printable as well 😀

Once these stamped and coloured images had their santa hats on, I had to use them straight away, so I created a mini card and a gift tag to give you an idea of how to put together something quickly with pre-coloured images.  You can see both the paper piecing / card & tag video AND the colouring video below.
