No more Project 365 … and I’ll tell you why

I have been doing Project 365, in a no-fuss hybrid form, for 4 years now.

But in June this year, it started to become difficult.  My laptop was overheating and shutting itself down.  I also started volunteering for Angel Gowns for Australian Angel Babies Inc.  Things changed … and I let this project slip further and further behind.

I tried to record what I did each day by sending my ‘other’ Facebook account a PM at the end of each day, but truth be told … I got pretty slack with that.

So now I face a conundrum … do I hunt back through my status updates and PMs with my fave peeps to see what I did each day, so I can catch up and complete the year?  Or do I let it go, and throw away all the printed album entries I had already completed?  This is a decision that’s been percolating in the back of my mind for a couple of months.

Today … I made a decision.  I am going to hunt through and catch up best I can on my year in review.  I will finish this album.  And then I’m done.  I won’t make a Project 365 for 2015.

Why?

Because my days are different now.  The entries would all be very much the same.

This form of record keeping has served is purpose, and it’s time for me to move on.  I wanted to see if I could do it, and I did.  If you’re interested in my approach, you can see a previous article I wrote about it on my old blog HERE.

What will I do this year?  I have no idea.  Perhaps I will use my planner/diary more.  I will still be making 8×8 digitally scrapbooked photo books with the family annual highlights.  I will also be much busier, taking on more design work for magazines, and continuing to volunteer with Angel Gowns for Australian Angel Babies Inc, so I need to spend less time on Facebook, and more time getting work done.

Sometimes, you just know in your heart that you are done.  It might be a hobby, a relationship, a job, a favourite song or food … you just know that it’s time to move on.  It’s hard to move on … but that is how we grow 🙂
